Bio
Joe McElroy, President and co-owner of Square Foot, Inc., brings more than 30 years of real estate experience to the firm. From its founding in 2002, McElroy has led Square Foot through many different and diverse assignments. He has assembled investor groups for a variety of acquisitions, from single empty lots to office towers to extensive parcels. He provides expertise in many areas, including contract negotiation, finance & assets management, land development, and the acquisition & re-tenanting of projects. In the past 12 months, he has handled acquisitions and dispositions valued at over $10 million. One of McElroy’s focuses has been the redevelopment of several properties in inner-city neighborhoods, particularly his own: North Oak Cliff. Within Oak Cliff, he has worked with clients including Chicken Scratch/The Foundry, Eno’s Pizza Tavern, Jonathan’s, Spiral Diner, Wild Detectives and Ten Bells Tavern. He also works with national clients, completing developments and handling site selection for Family Dollar and negotiating leases with note for Bank of America, Subway and T-Mobile. McElroy’s dedication to the preservation and revitalization of the Dallas community extends beyond his work. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce and is currently a member of the Oak Cliff Lions Club among others. Before he founded Square Foot, McElroy served as the Executive Vice President of SPG International for more than two decades, managing a portfolio of shopping centers, office space and raw land worth in excess of $160 million. He earned his Bachelor degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and his Juris Doctor. Currently McElroy is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, the Urban Land Institute and the Texas Bar College.
