As Director of Acquisitions at Virtus Real Estate Capital, Josh Colter is responsible for sourcing investment opportunities, overseeing the underwriting process, developing capital partners relationships, and co-managing the current portfolio of multifamily assets.
Josh joined RangeWater in 2020. His diverse experience spans more than 16 years across three continents within private equity, real estate investments, and trading, having closed over $1.5B in multifamily transactions across the country. Most recently, Josh served as Chief Investment Officer and Head of U.S. Real Estate for a large investment firm where he spearheaded all acquisitions and dispositions for their multifamily division. His background with sponsor/operators includes principal investing, asset management, acquisitions, and joint venture structuring with family offices and institutional groups. Each year, he is invited to speak at several family office conferences in Los Angeles, New York, and Miami to give his perspective on the current state of the markets.
Josh holds a double Master’s degree in Financial Economics and Risk and Investment Management from EDHEC Business School. Prior to business school, Josh worked on Wall Street as an investment banker and completed his undergraduate studies in Finance, Economics, and Accounting at the University of Central Florida. He is an active member of the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC) and participates in annual fundraising for Best Buddies International. Josh enjoys traveling the world with his family, snowboarding, and competing in Ironman triathlons. He resides in Miami with his wife, Iryna, and son, Miles.
