Bio
Kate Patterson, a long time resident of Northern Virginia, began her career in Real Estate in 1983, joining the flagship office of McEnearney Associates as the first “Rookie” ever hired by John McEnearney, founder of McEnearney Associates, Inc. Kate has watched the firm grow from a "boutique" local real estate company to the market leader that McEnearney is today. Over the years, Kate has expanded her knowledge, experience and negotiating skills as the company has grown. In addition to excelling in residential real estate, Kate is experienced in Commercial Sales and Leasing, including investment buying and selling, multi family sales and Tax Free Exchange transactions.
Kate is a Navy Junior; during her father’s career in the Navy she grew up moving from one military posting to another, while her family maintained a residence in Norfolk, Virginia as well as strong family ties to Camden, South Carolina, her mother's home town. While Kate's family moved fairly often during her formative years, they always came back to the DMV area; Kate has lived in north and south Arlington, Falls Church, McLean, Alexandria as well as Chevy Chase, (DC & MD) Bethesda, Georgetown and Foggy Bottom.
After college, Kate moved to New York City for a year to begin learning the art of marketing. When she returned to DC, she went to work in the Legislative/Lobbying industry working in downtown DC and Capitol Hill, becoming an early Lobbyist in the field of Aviation, a family tradition. Kate’s background in management, consulting and negotiation have proven to be very adaptable to the real estate industry, where sales and marketing skills go hand in hand with "people" skills.
“I thoroughly enjoy meeting all kinds of people in my professional capacity as a real estate agent. I view each client and transaction as a unique and individual process and am personally and professionally satisfied when I know that both buyers and sellers are pleased with the way the purchase or sale of their home has been accomplished. The words I enjoy hearing most from my clients are "I LOVE my house! Thank you, Kate" or "Thank you for selling our house! You are terrific! We're going to refer our friends to you!"
Eight years ago Kate obtained her DC license and is enjoying exploring the DC landscape, where she attended George Washington University. Being in a position to assist clients on both sides of the Potomac River has expanded Kate's value to her clients by helping them make decisions about where they will be happiest in their "dream" houses. Having moved so often throughout her life, Kate understands the concept of MOVING! Kate is always happy to help her clients with their next MOVE!
