Lewis Miller, Senior Vice President, is a member of CBRE Hotels, working on a variety of real estate assignments including acquisitions, dispositions, development and finance. His experience in the hotel industry includes development, project management, finance and institutional portfolio management.
Prior to joining CBRE, Mr. Miller was a practice leader for Insignia/ESG’s Hotel Partners. Previously, in 1996, Mr. Miller joined Jacoby Development, a private real estate development firm specializing in retail and environmental projects, as Chief Financial Officer. His responsibilities included financing, acquisition, contract negotiation and divestiture for all investments.
Before that, Mr. Miller was a Senior Vice President with Holiday Inn Worldwide, where he was responsible for the strategic management of the firm’s diverse real estate portfolio in the Americas. Before joining Holiday Inn Worldwide, Mr. Miller spent 10 years with the Prudential Property Company as Vice President - Hotel Investments. He and his team were responsible for managing a $4 billion hotel equity portfolio and a $1 billion hotel mortgage portfolio. During his tenure, Mr. Miller was responsible for the development and redevelopment of 36 hotel properties; including, Capital Hilton Hotel, the San Francisco Hilton Hotel, Hilton Hawaiian Village, Chicago Hilton, Nikko Buckhead and the Shorthills Hilton Hotel.
From 1978 to 1981, while working for Laventhol & Horwath, he was responsible for the firm’s nationwide consulting practice to the conference center industry. Personally, he advised the developers on the development of the Arrowwood Executive Conference Center in Armonk, New York, the Scanticon Conference Centers in Princeton, New Jersey and Minneapolis, Minnesota, the Cheyenne Mountain Inn in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the Kiawah Island Resort Conference Center in Kiawah Island, South Carolina and the Snowmass Village Conference Center in Aspen Colorado. Mr. Miller authored what was at that time the only definitive study of the conference center industry; The Executive Conference Center, a Financial and Statistical Profile. In 1979, Mr. Miller, along with seven other prominent leaders in the conference center industry, established the International Association of Conference Centers where he served as a member of the Board of Directors for three years.
Mr. Miller is co-founder of The Southern Institute for Family Wellness, is Vice Chairman and Regional Board member of the American Suicide Foundation and was past President of the Philadelphia Chapter of Cornell University’s Society of Hotelmen. He is an annual member of the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors’ Million Dollar Club and, in 2007, was named a Top 10 member in the category of land sales. Mr. Miller graduated with distinctions from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration.
