Corporate Responsibilities
As Chief Executive Officer of Commonwealth Commercial, Mark is responsible for the operational and long-term planning for all company functions, including strategy and allocation of resources. Mark also remains active in the transactional side of the business to include investment sales and office leasing.
Experience
Mark founded Commonwealth Commercial in 1996. Since that time, he has continued a varied practice in commercial real estate, including asset management, leasing, acquisition, disposition and consulting services. In 2008 Mark saw the need for a singularly focused real estate asset management company and founded StreamCo, LLC. StreamCo has grown in scope and presence and provides services in 10 states, with over 100 assets and over 6.5 million square feet. In 2009 Mark and Evan Paner began another client centric service, Comprehensive Development Strategies, LLC, a real estate project management company with extensive experience in all types of real estate projects. In 2010 Mark helped facilitate the merger with Afton Hospitality, LLC into Commonwealth Lodging Management, LLC, a top 50 company in US hospitality management firms. Also in the late 2000’s, Mark helped forge a partnership between Commonwealth Commercial and Lingerfelt Companies to establish a vertically integrated real estate fund management firm, Lingerfelt Commonwealth. Commonwealth Commercial continues to grow with offices in Richmond, Hampton Roads, Jacksonville, Tampa, Nashville, Greensboro, Charlotte, Raleigh and Reading. Prior to Commonwealth Commercial, Mark joined Grubb & Ellis/Harrison & Bates (now Colliers) when they merged with the commercial division of Bowers, Nelms & Fonville in 1987. Mark served as a Vice President for Grubb & Ellis/Harrison & Bates and focused on office and industrial sales and leasing. Prior to entering the commercial real estate business, Mark worked for several banks in the Richmond area.
Education
Mark received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business, with a major of Management, from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Mark holds the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and Certified Property Manager (CPM) designations.
Accomplishments
Mark is active in the Virginia Council of CEOs, Advisory Board Member of the Virginia Tech Real Estate Program, Investment Committee Member of Lingerfelt Commonwealth Income Fund and Commonwealth Opportunity Fund and serves on various Boards and Directorships.
