Martin oversees company global operations and the work of the executive management team in business service functions, including marketing, legal, research, human resources, information technology and innovation. In addition, he leads and manages the day-to-day service aspects of the organization ensuring that the company adheres to its mission and core values and employs strategies to maximize client satisfaction. Working closely with the firm’s other leaders, he is responsible to attract, recruit and retain future members of the executive team and the next generation of professionals at Avison Young. In addition to his role as Global COO, Martin is a Director on the Board of Avison Young and serves as a member of the global executive committee, which, together, contribute to the strategic direction and growth of Avison Young’s international platform. Avison Young has achieved Platinum status as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies. In 2019, Avison Young won the Employee Recommended Workplace Award (private, large company category). Presented by The Globe and Mail and Morneau Shepell, the award, based entirely on feedback from employees, recognizes Canadian organizations that have successfully achieved a healthy, engaged and productive workforce. Prior to his current role, Martin was the Managing Director of Avison Young’s Ontario, Canada region. A graduate of the University of Western Ontario, Martin began his career in commercial real estate services at Avison Young in 1994 starting in the Toronto office as an Associate. Martin became a Principal of the company in 1998 and during his career, he has served in multiple management and transactional roles, including advising on the lease of industrial and office space in excess of 10 million square feet and the sale of in excess of $1 billion worth of investment properties.
