Bio
Matthew began his career after graduating from the University of Rhode Island in the residential mortgage industry. His roles of responsibility grew tremendously from a mortgage originator in the mid-1990s to audit and compliance for significant companies such as Radian Guaranty and Cenlar Servicing. Matthew was certified by FNMA in loss mitigation compliance and earned the distinct privilege of being one of five traveling compliance officers for Radian Guaranty.
Before retiring from his residential finance career, Matthew built a successful real estate investment portfolio known as the David S Walter Group, focusing on restaurant and retail commercial assets.
After his retirement from residential work, Matthew took the next step to evolve the successful commercial investment business into a commercial real estate management business known as M Walter Properties (https://matthewwaltergroup.com/). The new management business was immediately thrust into the limelight by working with multiple clients to redevelop part of downtown Summit, NJ. The investment and management businesses still work closely with a handful of clients in the areas of Summit, Chatham, Morristown, Mountainside, and Westfield, NJ. His clients hold real estate in the areas of office space, flex space, light industrial, landscape storage, retail, and restaurant.
In early 2020, Matthew decided that the next appropriate business step was to become licensed as a real estate agent. Matthew became licensed in early 2021 and continues to help existing clients in NJ and PA. Matthew proudly served on the Summit NJ Downtown Board (SDI) for two years, was a Vice President of his local Fire Company of 260 members (Wissahickon Fire Co), and then Director of the Fire Company for an additional two years. Matthew is married to his wife Caitlin, who is a successful attorney at Saul Ewing in Philadelphia. He is a father of three and coaches his oldest son’s soccer team under the Upper Dublin Soccer Club.
