Bio
Max Talpalar joined Capricorn Retail Advisors as a Prinicpal from Green Owl Real Estate, where he was Founder and Managing Principal. His experienced real estate career started with a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. More recently Max held a senior leasing position with international retail giants Unibail Rodamco Westfield. Prior, he worked with both tenants and property owners at Sinvin Real Estate in New York City.
?At Unibail Rodamco Westfield Max was a perennial top tier dealmaker and winner of the 2018 URW Deal of the Year award. He was the leading performer at one of the most profitable shopping centers in the USA while simultaneously handling national accounts such as American Eagle Outfitters and Samsung. He had particular success with European brands new to the US market, including signing some of the first US deals for Hotel Chocolat, Intimissimi, Innisfree, Natura Brasil, and others. During this time Max also closed deals with high profile contemporary brands such as Warby Parker, Aesop, Morphe, Dr. Marten's, Aerie, Offline, Stance, and Charles Tyrwhitt. Notably, Max traveled the USA extensively and worked on deals on almost every one of URW's 30+ properties nationwide.
?Mr. Talpalar’s real estate career began at Georgetown Law where he earned a Juris Doctor cum laude with a focus on land use and historic preservation. He spent time as a real estate attorney at Paul Hastings in Los Angeles, CA, and at Duval & Stachenfeld in NYC, where he worked on investment bank Angelo Gordon’s real estate deals.
?After leaving the law firm world behind, Max joined Sinvin Real Estate in SoHo, where he worked on both landlord and tenant assignments. Some of his most notable deals were SoHo locations for Moschino and multiple high profile tech brands, as well as Flatiron and Greenwich Village locations for well known restaurants Cosme, Atla, and Claudette. Through his leasing efforts Max galvanized historic facade renovations at both 131 Greene Street and 24 Fifth Avenue in New York.
Max is a member of the New York State Bar, the International Council of Shopping Centers, and the Congress for the New Urbanism. He holds a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and a B.A. in Business from the University of Florida, both with honors. Max is a licensed real estate broker in the state of New York.
