Bio
Michael Bedenbaugh, who was most recently President & CEO of Preservation South Carolina for over 14 years, is also owner of Preservation Solutions, LLC; a historic property development consulting company. Born in Prosperity SC in the shadow of his Great Grandfathers home, Mike has always had a love and respect for old places. After serving in the US Navy for 5 years on board the USS South Carolina, Mike attended USC and Columbia University in New York for a degree in International Studies and History. Following school, he moved to NY and helped to build a product marketing company that catered to the entertainment industry with offices in NY and LA. In 1991 he moved the corporate headquarters to Prosperity and became socially involved as a member of the local planning commission, chair of the county Board of Zoning Appeals, joined the Board of Preservation SC, and was elected to his hometown’s city council. After a high pressured 14 years of managing the needs of clients such as DreamWorks, MGM, Island Records, Paramount Pictures and Philip Morris, Mike decided to focus on local community and took on managing the social studies program for Newberry Academy' middle and high school until assuming the reigns of Preservation SC in 2007. He spent the next 14 years saving historic buildings all over the state that would otherwise have been lost. Raising millions of dollars in funding and rehab projects. All across the state, Mike's impact can be seen in the legacy of endangered buildings that were made new again. As he announced his retirement, he was honored to have been awarded the Order of the Palmetto by the Hon Henry McMaster, Gov of SC for his lifetime of work to bring value to old places. He now looks forward to helping owners find the right buyer for their historic home or commercial property as well as help buyers locate the right home or investment property for their needs. Mike also grew up within three miles of Lake Murray and the Lake has always been a big part of his life. His knowledge of the Prosperity/Chapin/Saluda area of Lake Murray is unequaled and he is ready to help clients find the perfect home within their budget, or, ensure the lake property you are ready to sell will have the representation it (and you) deserve. When not traveling the state helping owners sell, and buyers buy, historic properties , Mike resides on his grandfather's restored farm outside of Prosperity with his wife Anya, three dogs, two cats and various sheep/chickens/goats and one donkey Susie!
