As Executive Vice President of Leasing, Michael Guerin co-directs Macerich’s West region consisting of some of the company’s highest-performing centers, which encapsulates two-thirds of Macerich’s portfolio assets. His retail merchandising expertise includes the execution of deals and cultivating relationships with top global luxury brands, refined dining restaurants and mainstream retail. Guerin has a global outlook for the company, acting as the conduit for new-to-Macerich international retailers.
Guerin has held various roles throughout Macerich in his career, including a leading role in the successful luxury redevelopment of Scottsdale Fashion Square, Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek, CA and Santa Monica Place. In addition, Guerin is considered an expert in merchandising, curating a diverse tenant mix within Macerich’s portfolio. He has also held positions in property management and directed responsibilities at multiple high-profile assets in Southern California.
Prior to joining Macerich, Guerin spent several years in the financial industry, holding positions as Financial Consultant for Smith Barney and International Portfolio Accountant for The Boston Company.
A Massachusetts native, Guerin earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Rhode Island and a Master of Business Administration from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and holds the designations of Certified Retail Property Executive (CRX), Certified Leasing Specialist (CLS) and Certified Shopping Center Manager (CSM). He is also a licensed California real estate agent.
