Background: Michael E. Lyons (“Mike”) handles cases in Maryland and Washington D.C. from our Joint Base Andrews location. Mike started practicing law in Upper Marlboro, Maryland in 2007 and primarily handled complex litigation matters involving construction defects, personal injury, real estate, contracts, family law and criminal matters. In 2010, Mike followed a family tradition of military service and applied for a commission in the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General’s Corps. Mike accepted his commission into the Air Force on September 11, 2010. From 2010 through 2013, Mike was assigned to Yokota Air Base, Japan, where he handled administrative discharges, Article 15 cases and prosecuted violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice at every level of the courts-martial system. While assigned to Yokota AB, Mike also deployed to Herat, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and regularly went “outside-the-wire” to meet with Afghan judges, lawyers and tribal leaders to rebuild the Afghan legal system. In 2013, Mike was reassigned as the Chief of Military Justice (lead prosecutor) to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ where he handled numerous high profile drug, sexual assault, and child pornography investigations & prosecutions.
In 2014, Mike transitioned from active duty into the Air Force Reserves and established a general practice law firm in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Michael E. Lyons, P.C. represents clients throughout Maryland and Washington, D.C. in family law, personal injury, criminal defense, real estate and civil litigation matters. Mike also maintains an “of-counsel” relationship with the highly regarded firm of Ralph W. Powers, Jr., P.C., the principal of which has represented clients in Maryland for more than 35 years.
In 2016, Mike joined Patriots Law Group and handles matters arising in Maryland and Washington, D.C. Mike conducts many of our free seminars at the Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, location.
