Prior to founding Perceptive Capital, Robert Kurlender was Managing Director at Dalfen America Corp., a Canadian based private equity firm focused on acquiring and operating industrial properties throughout the United States. As one of Dalfen’s top executives, Mr. Kurlender was responsible for overseeing the firm’s acquisitions, dispositions and investment activities and helped transform the company into one of the fasting growing industrial operators in North America. Mr. Kurlender conceptualized and implemented the firm’s post recession fund strategy and successfully executed on over $350MM in real estate transactions.
Prior to joining Dalfen America Corp., Mr. Kurlender was a principal at R Kay Consulting, where he headed a team of financing specialists in the qualifying, underwriting and financing of residential real estate mortgages.
Although industrial properties have been a central focus of Mr. Kurlender’s most recent role, with over 10 years of real estate experience, Mr. Kurlender has been involved in a wide array of transactions including the acquisition of defaulted mortgage notes, the sale and operation of office properties, land acquisitions and multi-family development. Mr. Kurlender studied accounting and public relations at McGill University in Montreal, Canada and received his MBA from HEC Graduate School of Management in Paris, France where he specialized in Finance and Commercial Real Estate.
