Rusty Karraker, born in Fresno, is proud to be the youngest child of Fresno Pastor Bufe Karraker and his wife Roberta "Cookie" Karraker. After graduating from Bullard High School in 1979, Rusty attended Fresno State University from 1979 -1983 majoring in business with an emphasis in Marketing. While at Fresno State he was the starting Punter for the Bulldogs and Coach Jim Sweeney. He was a member of the 1982 PCAA Champions and 1983 California Bowl Championship Bulldog football team. In 1983 he was signed by the Denver Gold of the USFL and then in 1984 by the San Francisco 49ers of the NFL.
Settling in the Bay Area (Mountain View, CA) after a "cup of coffee" with the 49ers, Rusty went to work for a major commercial real estate firm and spent the next ten years (1985 -1995) selling and leasing commercial real estate in the Mountain View, Palo Alto and Menlo Park markets. He specialized in both the selling and leasing of Office/R&D, Industrial and Investment properties representing a variety of landlords and developers in the marketing of their properties. Among his most significant transactions was one of the first Costco warehouse sites (115,000 sq. feet in Mountain View) a complex 15 acre land assemblage, that included a variety of parcels, owners and prospective tenants. Rusty specialized in developing strategies for a number of his clients in their efforts to become owners of their own real estate. "For me, introducing small business owners to the opportunity of becoming their own landlord was the most rewarding part of being in commercial real estate."
In 1995 Rusty acquired Property Inspection Service, the largest residential inspection firm in Northern California. During his tenure as owner, the company provided over 35,000 residential property inspections. In 2000, the Santa Clara County Association of Realtors named Rusty the Affiliate of the Year for his extensive service to the community. He was the Chairman/Emcee of the popular San Jose/Campbell Realtor weekly tour meeting from 1998 - 2012. Rusty was also a major fundraiser for Chicago Title's annual softball tournament benefitting the Make a Wish Foundation held every year at Twin Creeks in Sunnyvale.
Rusty was most recently involved in helping launch a new senior housing development in Northwest Fresno at the corner of Spruce & Hayes. He was responsible for the private equity raise to secure the land and help move the project through the entitlement process necessary to obtain permanent financing. The approximately 86,000 square foot facility consists of 120 units and provides Assisted Living and Memory Care services all under one roof. The project is clearly one of Fresno's finest and is currently accepting applications for occupancy. Rusty and his family moved back to the Central Valley in the fall of 2002 to be closer to family. Clovis residents, Rusty and his wife Cindy have been blessed with four great kids, Mitch (and his wife Kelly & Daughter Ella Maree), Jack, Brett (and his wife Savannah) and Katie. He has acted as a principal in various real estate investments ranging from commercial and residential to multi-family projects.
