Sandy Berry joined the firm in 1999, along with the entire retail group from CB Richard Ellis' San Jose office, in order to head up the new dynamic retail division of real estate services. She specializes in the lease and sale of retail properties. She is an effective team player and committed professional with a proven record of success.
Ms. Berry was recruited by The Koll Company in 1996 as director of leasing for its Northern California retail projects. She was responsible for a wide range of properties undergoing anchor expansion, center remodeling or market repositioning. A merger took her to CB Richard Ellis (now CBRE), where she joined the San Jose office's retail group.
Ms. Berry began her real estate career in 1979 in property management and lease administration for Western Investment Management Company in Cupertino. After four years, she was promoted to asset manager of a 2.0 million-square-foot portfolio that included centers in California, Arizona and Oregon. Ms. Berry was promoted to director of leasing in 1985 and then to vice president of leasing in 1986. Her responsibilities in these roles included the development of leasing programs, the creation of strategic management plans and the preparation of shopping center management budgets. She negotiated leases with retailers such as Mervyn's, Target, Ross Dress for Less, TJ Maxx, Tandy Corporation, J.C. Penney, Michael's Crafts, Party City, Blockbuster Video, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Chevy's, Red Robin and many other national and regional chain tenants and restaurants. Her success led to a co-ownership in the firm and a general partnership in Western Investment Properties, its development subsidiary.
