Bio
Scott Hollis works out of John L. Scott’s Lacey, DuPont, and Olympia offices, helping a variety of clients, including investors, senior citizens, veterans, and those relocating to or from the Pacific Northwest. He became a broker in 2013, after spending more than 20 years in healthcare and clinical laboratory management. Additionally, Scott has owned a small human resources consulting business and has served as an adjunct professor for a few universities. Scott was drawn to becoming a real estate broker due to his past experiences building, designing, or remodeling more than 20 homes, two hospital wings and a small critical-access hospital. Those experiences of watching something great come from something as small as an idea inspired Scott to explore what he can accomplish with others in residential real estate. Clients often call Scott a “bulldog,” who works hard to ensure they get a good deal and can accomplish their homeownership goals. He particularly enjoys working with relocation clients, as he has personal experience as a military “brat” and serving in the military himself – translating to Scott living and working in more than 30 countries. Accordingly, his vision is to minimize stress involved with relocating however he is able. With over 20 years of experience in contract negotiations, as well as first-hand experience with multiple moves with and without corporate or military support, Scott has developed a list of resources, tools and connections that can minimize the transition from just about anywhere in the U.S. to the Puget Sound. With a love of languages, he is also able to serve individuals from other countries and cultures where English may be their second, third or even fourth language. Scott’s early education was in anthropology and as such, he is sensitive to the needs of his clients that are making big cultural moves, connecting them with likeminded communities here in the incredibly diverse Pacific Northwest. In particular, Scott often works with those coming from Asian or Russian backgrounds. Powerlifting, coaching, and competing in adventure races like the Tough Mudder are all counted as passions of Scott’s. He also spends time as a board advisor for several nonprofits that work with veterans affected by posttraumatic stress disorder and volunteers as a coach for teen sports. Additionally, as an adoptive parent, he often works with the foster and adoption communities.
