Shirley has lived in Johnson County most of her life. She's also lived in Mooresville, Martinsville, Rushville, Danville, and Lebanon during her career with Indiana Gas/Vectren Energy so she knows the areas and their housing needs. One of her assignments with Indiana Gas was Rushville District Superintendent. She retired from Indiana Gas/Vectren Energy after 28 years of service.
She was very active in community organizations throughout Indiana as a member of many Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Committees throughout Central Indiana: Rushville, Cambridge City, Knightstown, Bloomington, Ellettsville, Bedford & Mitchell). Chairman of the Ellettsville Economic Development Committee, Executive Secretary of the Rushville Chamber of Commerce. She was President of the American Business Women's Association and Secretary of the Business and Professional Women's Organization.
During her carrier she attended IUPUI and received her degree from Purdue in Supervision and majoring in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
Shirley's best friend of 15 years was a Realtor and so was her friend's husband. For eleven years that seemed to be all that they talked about. So when her friend's husband passed away she asked Shirley to take his place and work with her as her assistant. Being a go-getter and wanting to stay active and help people, Shirley accepted the offer. In 2009 Shirley got her Realtor license and went out on her own staying with Carpenter.
Shirley is a Qualified Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES). She is also certified as American Warrior Real Estate Professional (AWREP). Her life's experiences and her love for decorating a home has been a help in sales and staging her listings. She has her sellers and buyers grade her after a sale to better understand how she can better serve her clients. She takes her work seriously and works anytime the client needs her, not just 9-5.
