Bio
Introduction and Personal History
Sonya has always loved to help people and feel that her real estate experience has helped expand her circle of friends and knowledge. Continuous learning is a way of life for her, which has led her to what she knows today. She grew up just West of Darrington, on Swede Heaven Road. She later moved to Mount Vernon for a couple of years to attend college while she worked as a middle school tutor in Oceanography and Algebra during the week and working at Hampton Lumber Mill on the weekends. She later married Bruce Blacker, and they are now raising two children. Their recent ventures have included growing Wild Edge Woods where Bruce specializes in rough cut wooden beams, renovating Old Darrington City Hall and raising a small herd of beef cows.
Education
Sonya attended Darrington High and also received college credits from Northwest Indian College for painting of murals for the Suak Suiattle Long House Project. From there, she went onto Skagit Valley College and received her Associate of Arts Degree. She continued onto Columbia College of Missouri, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on Human Resources. Sonya plans to become a certified arborist also due to her interests in horticulture and timber management.
