Steve Tart joined Brand Real Estate Services as Senior Managing Director upon our merger with Genesis Real Estate Advisers in October 2020. He brings 35 years of vast commercial real estate experience to this role including asset management, development, redevelopment, leasing, construction management and property management.
Prior to this, Steve was President and Founder of Genesis Real Estate Advisers, where he directed the development, redevelopment and leasing activity for the company’s portfolio while growing the institutional and private investor client base and asset management business. In prior roles, Steve was a Partner and Executive Vice President in charge of leasing at Ben Carter Properties which was one of the largest retail developers in the Southeast having developed over 20 centers totaling more than 9 million square feet with $1.5 billion in value. For more than 10 years, Steve and his team were responsible for leases totaling more than 3.5 million square feet. In 1995, Steve was Vice President and Senior Asset Manager for Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers (now Barings Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of MassMutual Financial Group) where he was responsible for over 1.3 million square feet of commercial property in the Southeastern U.S. valued in excess of $110 million. Before this, Steve was Vice President at North Hills, Inc. in Raleigh, North Carolina (a wholly-owned subsidiary of the KLM Dutch Airline Pension Fund) where he was responsible for the leasing and management of 17 shopping centers totaling over 2.7 million square feet.
Steve is a licensed broker for real estate in Georgia, Florida, and North Carolina. He is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers with the Certified Retail Property Executive (CRX) and Senior Certified Shopping Center Manager (SCSM) designations. As a resident of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and Sandy Springs, Georgia, Steve is involved in both of these local communities. He received his BA degree from North Carolina State University and also earned the rank of Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts of America. He is married with four grown children and an active member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church.
