Mr. Helms is a Colliers International Senior Vice President of the Office Services Group. He started as an associate in 1985.

For over 30 years, Mr. Helms has served the Greater Cleveland area’s office requirements. He spent almost 14 years in the office furnishing and interior design business with W.A.Helms, Inc. before joining the office real estate business 17 years ago. He began his business career in St. Louis, with I.B.M.

Achievements
Mr. Helms has a proven track record in serving his clients well and has achieved membership into the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR). He has also achieved the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation of the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute.
Mr. Helms has been involved in several major lease transactions serving as either the tenant’s or the owner’s representative. As the tenant’s representative, he represented Arter & Hadden in negotiating an early lease renewal and expansion of 85,000 SF. He has represented John Hancock Financial Services; TRW; Crain's Cleveland Business,Eltech/Oxytech Companies and many more. As a representative of Cuyahoga Savings Center, Mr. Helms secured 74,000 sf of new leases. For Corporate Ninety, he secured The Cleveland Clinic Foundation for a 30,000 sf “build-to-suit”. He sold two buildings for the American Red Cross, 80,000 sf and a transfer of a 50% partnership interest in the Higbee Building in 1997 to Forest City Development.
Acting as the Leasing Manager for two troubled suburban properties, Mr. Helms was responsible for leasing and renewing over 130,000 square feet of space in a three year period for the Receiver, and in turn, the owner, The Prudential Insurance Company. Recently Mr. Helms assembled 43 acres for a new Lake Hospital Systems site in Concord, Ohio.
Mr. Helms received the 1995, 1997 and 1998 Office Deal of the Year Awards from the NAIOP and SIOR Cleveland Chapters for his 1995 participation in a site search and purchase of two suburban office buildings representing the buyer, Banks Baldwin law Publishing Company. The 1997 award was for the sale of the Figgie International headquarters and the relocation of Figgie to Landerbrook 45 days after the “closing”. The 1998 award was for representation of Pioneer Standard Electronics, Inc. in a lease of 104,000 sf office space in Solon, Ohio. He received “Top Broker” award from Colliers CMN for 1999.
