Benderson primarily invests in market-dominant, specialty, and grocery-anchored shopping centers. Approximately 75% of its portfolio is in retail by number of properties. Much of their portfolio’s square footage is in Southwest Florida, where their corporate headquarters are located. It also maintains significant holdings in Upstate New York markets like Rochester, where the company was founded. It has a strong network of NNN retail portfolios, with over 60 CVS and 30 Fred Meyer locations. It has several notable ground leases, where the land was purchased and leased back to the owners of the multi-family and office buildings on the parcels. It also owns over 50 hotels, mostly on the eastern seaboard, and have developed industrial and logistics properties usually in excess of 150,000 square feet.
