In 1954, after periodic furloughs from his job as a pipe fitter in the Altoona Car Shops of the Pennsylvania Railroad, Leonard S. Fiore Sr. started a small construction company in Altoona, PA. He based it on the masonry and contracting skills he had learned from his father and uncle. His attention to detail and the quality of his workmanship as a builder allowed Leonard Sr. to support his family by devoting his efforts full-time to home construction and repair work. In 1957, the small company he built expanded into commercial construction, and in 1966, the company was incorporated, becoming Leonard S. Fiore, Inc.
Leonard Sr. and his wife, Mary, focused not just on the construction of buildings, but also on building strong and lasting relationships between the firm and its clients, subcontractors, employees, fellow businesses and community.
