Thomas Mackin, the inspiration for Mackin Advisors, LLC and the great-grandfather of Mackin Advisors Managing broker Mr. Sullivan was one of Chicago’s early multi-millionaires—by some estimates the wealthiest man in Chicago at the time of his death in 1893. However, you won’t see his names in any history books. Tom Mackin was the living ideal of the self-made man, with none of the self congratulatory trappings that brought fame to some of his contemporaries. In fact, it wasn’t until he was in his 60’s that he finally moved out of his modest family house, building himself a mansion more befitting a man of his wealth, while still growing his own potatoes, corn and vegetables on the grounds. Mackin Advisors, LLC, is not only named in honor of this famous Chicagoan.
