Smithco Development is a privately owned commercial real estate development company, founded in 1964 by Jim Smith, Sr. as “Smith & Company.” In 2007, Jim Smith, Jr. joined the family business after a career in retail brokerage. The company was rebranded as Smithco Development and expanded its services to encompass leasing, development, and management. Since inception, the company has grown to include the ownership and management of more than two million square feet of retail and office properties, primarily in the greater Houston area, including the following shopping centers: Center at Bunker Hill, Echo Lane, and Champions Forest Plaza.
