Executive Summary
The Saint Columba Parish House, a very attractive English Gothic Revival structure reminds us of the architectural skills that craftsmen in Northern Europe perfected by the 14th century. Built in 1913-1922 by architect Lancelot Sukert, also known for building the Scarab Club in Midtown Detroit. The Saint Columba Parish House is a fireproof structure of stone and brick construction. The first floor contains space for retail shops. The second floor was a large Sunday school room, a guild room, and a kitchenette. The third floor contains a large gymnasium with lockers and showers. The gymnasium was used for dancing and for banquets, with a large kitchen connected to it.
The Saint Columba Episcopal Church was built in the same year it was founded, 1913. Saint Columba, whose Gaelic name was Colum Cille, meaning "dove of the church", and was a member of the royal family, the descendant of a fifth century Irish king
